All planning is counterproductive? I beg to differ.

Certainly you can overplan and use planning as a method of procrastinating or avoiding the actual work.

But if you are working on multiple complex projects, then just winging it is not going to make you more productive. You'll get bogged down, miss steps, and miss deadlines. You can't assume that every project is as simple as typing a 30-minute article.
