I have a lot of complex projects and a lot of calendars to keep track of, so I do that with electronic systems (Todoist and Fantastical). But I also integrate an analog BJ type system into my process. I use the electronic tools to produce a monthly and weekly dashboard (inserted into my 6 ring A6 binder).
Every night, I write my dailies for the next day. My appointments and time blocking on the left, and a bullet list of my top three or so priorities on the right. Throughout the day I may make other additions and notes in BJ format on the right, and at the end of the day anything that hasn't been dealt with or needs to be noted gets migrated into my digital apps.
Each Sunday when I do my weekly planning, those dailies get scanned and saved in my digital journal. For me, it is the perfect marriage of digital and analog. I can do my complex planning, yet still have a simple, undistracting, BJ spread in front of me during the day.
