I now use Notes, the Apple built-in notetaking app. Already installed on all of my devices, super-quick to add new content to. A tap on my ipad lock screen with the Apple pencil and I can start a new handwritten journal entry. It has some new features like scanning that I honestly don't use. Support for drawing, diagramming, sketching with the Pencil.
I don't use Notes as a storage place, it is just for temporary notetaking, which I then save in my file system in the appropriate 'universal' format (docx or pdf), accessible to all of my devices or browser via dropbox. But like Drafts, it is super quick to launch and write a note.
