I outgrew Evernote. Had too much in it so it could no longer search and was always slow and crashing. Switched to OneNote and ran into several problems with it, then realized that there is no way to export from OneNote when you want to switch to something else. That was a big pain.

So I switched over to keeping my notes in the system folders in pdf, docx, or txt/md files, whichever worked best. I now only store notes in the file system and use apps that can access the file system rather than using their own databases. It has streamlined things quite a bit. I do also use Apple Notes, but only to capture, and then I export to pdf or copy to a text file.

But I still use pen and paper too! There are a lot of digital solutions now. You can use rocketbook or another dedicated note scanning system, or just use your phone or scanner to quickly digitize your handwritten page and transfer it to your file system. I also do my daily journal on my ipad in Notes, handwriting entries and then converting them to text. Hybrid systems can be very rewarding, as long as you have a workflow to file them in the appropriate place to find them again later.
