I use Dropbox for my Obsidian vaults. But there is one issue that you didn't run into because you never have both of your platforms open at the same time - if you have two computers syncing Obsidian vaults via Dropbox at the same time, you may lose the changes you are making to the current note. Dropbox is too fast and both computers try to replace it at the same time, freqently replacing the newer version with the older version. At least on my setup (two Macs).

So I always have to be sure to close Obsidian when I leave one computer before starting to make changes to it on another.
