I’m surprised you didn’t find todoist quick to add tasks to ad hoc.

There’s a hot key combo to add any time in Mac OS, a plug-in to add tasks that come up while you’re working in your gmail or want to link a task to a website, and to add a task to whatever view you are at in Todoist, type Q to quick add.
