Interesting. Testing Maslow’s theory against non-privileged people, I wonder if the whole thing is hooey.

Thinking about books I have read or stories I have seen about people in concentration camps, in poverty conditions in third world countries, etc. I have “met” people who have achieved significant levels of peace and joy despite horrific, unsafe conditions, starvation, and many other trials. They are some of the most “actualized” people I can imagine. But according to Maslow, they cannot achieve this if they are not having their basic physical needs met.
