There is no way I could get rid of my projects, but with Todoist (which I also use) there is no reason tasks can't be nested under a project but also assigned a mental state label.

I haven't used this kind of label, but I do time block, and whether I am doing deep work, administrative, or shallow work is scheduled according to the time of day I am best able to do that kind of work.
