Time blocking doesn’t mean you need to schedule every minute of your day. I leave plenty of holes in which to do “everything else”. But by blocking off my time, I make an appointment with myself to get my priority tasks done.
Using google calendar or another digital calendar is great, because when something goes pear shaped, you can drag blocks around during the day or week to make sure that you still have time to get the most important things done.
As you implement it, you learn about yourself, your daily rhythms, what works at certain times of day or of the week so that you can adapt to energy levels, travel schedule, etc.
I have shallow work scheduled as well as deep work. I know what stuff I can do while relaxing with hubby and watching tv and what things I can’t.
