Yes, I left Evernote a few years ago due to problems with loading, searching, syncing, etc. when my database got too big.

I spent a short time with OneNote and decided that wouldn't work for me, especially when, unlike Evernote, there is no way to get notes out of OneNote into another system (other than copy/pasting one at a time.)

I made the switch to storing notes in my file system and experimented with various file types and what would sync across to my various devices (via Dropbox) and be easy to edit and access everywhere. I eventually settled on text or md files, and I too have been experimenting with Obsidian for the last couple of weeks. I also use other text/md editors. That's one of the benefits of using text files in your file system. You can edit them with different editors on different platforms, and they still work everywhere.
